A Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at 10:57 a.m.
in the County Commissioners' Hearing Room, County Government Center,
Chestertown, for the purpose of discussing the application submitted
by Mr. and Mrs. James Sutton, for the voluntary creation of an Agricultural
Land Preservation District on their 158.34 acre farm located on Still
Pond Road in the Second Election District.
County Commissioners Ronald H. Fithian, Larry B. Beck and W. Michael
Newnam were in attendance as well as Gail Owings, Director of Planning
and Zoning Administration, Carla Martin, Community Planner. Mr. and
Mrs. Sutton, applicants, were in attendance.
Notice of public hearing was read into the record by Commissioner
Fithian.
Ms. Martin presented a map identifying the Sutton property. She advised
that approximately 57.9 % of the soils are classified capability Class
II and III.
Commissioner Fithian referred to correspondence received from Elizabeth
H. Morris, Chairman, Planning Commission, and correspondence received
from Robert W. Clark, Jr., Chairman, Agricultural Preservation Advisory
Board, which advised of both Boards' unanimous vote to recommend approval
of this application.
There was no one in the audience who wished to speak for or against
this application for submission to the Agricultural Land Preservation
Foundation.
A motion was made by Commissioner Beck, seconded by Commissioner Newnam
and made unanimous by Commissioner Fithian to recommend approval of
the application submitted by Mr. and Mrs. Sutton for the voluntary creation
of an Agricultural Land Preservation District to the Agricultural Land
Preservation Foundation.
This hearing was taped for reference and adjourned at 10:59 a.m.
