FAIRLEE MANOR RECREATIONAL & EDUCATIONAL
CENTER
A Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, July 25, at 10:15 a.m. in the
County Commissioners' Hearing Room, County Government Center, Chestertown,
Maryland for the purpose of advising the
public that this $240,300 project has been successfully completed with
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the Maryland Department
of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) on behalf of Fairlee Manor
Recreational and Educational Center.
County Commissioners Ronald H. Fithian, Larry B. Beck and W. Michael
Newnam were in attendance as well as, Jack Canan, Housing and Community
Development Coordinator, Kay Pinder-Almen, Don Schlimm, Director Camp
Fairlee Manor (Easter Seals), and members of the media.
The notice of public hearing was read into the record by Commissioner
Fithian.
Mr. Canan advised that as a result of this project, water and sewer
service was installed, as well as the construction of a public bath
house. The project has met its objectives and criteria and has been
successfully completed. Mr. Schlimm expressed his gratitude for the
successful completion of the project and advised that the camp served
approximately 840 low/moderate income citizens. He also noted that this
project allowed for the expansion of the center and that the new bath
house promoted independence for the camp users.
Commissioner Fithian stated that he was glad to be a part of helping
the facility.
There were no questions or comments from the audience.
Mr. Schlimm thanked the Commissioners as well as Mr. Canan and his
staff for the successful completion of the project.
