A Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. in
the County Commissioners' Hearing Room in Chestertown, Maryland to permit
any resident of Kent County to appear and testify concerning a proposed
loan to the Betterton Volunteer Fire Company, Rock Hall, MD, in the
maximum aggregate amount of $248,000.00. The loan or interest thereon
shall never constitute an indebtedness or a charge against the general
credit or taxing powers of the County Commissioners of Kent County,
within the meaning of any constitutional or charter provision or statutory
limitation and shall not constitute or give rise to any pecuniary liability
of the County Commissioners of Kent County. The proceeds of such loan
will be used to finance the acquisition of one 2003 Sparton Pumper Truck.
County Commissioners Roy W. Crow, Scott D. Livie, and William W. Pickrum
were in attendance. There was not representation of the Betterton Volunteer
Fire Company in attendance.
Notice of public hearing was read into the record by Commissioner
Pickrum.
No one in attendance spoke for or against the project proposed by
Betterton Volunteer Fire Company.
A motion was made by Commissioner Livie, seconded by Commissioner
Crow and made unanimous by Commissioner Pickrum to approve and execute
the resolution for the financing anticipated by the Betterton Volunteer
Fire Company, in the amount not to exceed $248,000.00 to be used solely
to finance the acquisition of one 2003 Sparton Pumper Truck.
