| The following materials will be accepted at no charge: - Recyclables: glass, aluminum, newspapers, steel cans, corrugated cardboard, used oil and antifreeze, all paper, news paper, office paper, shredded paper, junk mail, envelopes w/ windows and plastic bottles & jugs, auto/lawn mower batteries, used Motor Oil & Antifreeze, Boat Shrink Wrap. Materials must be separated. For information regarding free curbside recycling, please contact Kent County Recycling at 410-778-7448. - Chipper area accepts brush no thicker than 10 inches in diameter at no charge. All areas are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday,
Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas
Eve, and Christmas Day.
MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTED AT NICHOLSON
LAND CLEARING WASTES: Animal manure, pesticides,
herbicides, animal bedding,
agriculture produce, animal feed, putrescible waste, and
fertilizers. (NO STUMPS)
DEMOLITION DEBRIS: All demolition debris from large structures.
CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS: Any commercial, domestic
or industrial wastes or
byproducts, paint, tar or tar containers, caulking
compounds, glazing compounds, paint thinner, or
other solvents or their containers, creosote or other
preservatives or their containers, cement used for
tiles, paneling, carpet or other adhesives, and other
solid waste which may contain an unacceptable
substance as may be determined by the administration
to be unacceptable.
THE FOLLOWING ARE SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITED:
All Asbestos materials, (shingles, siding)
Controlled Hazardous substances in any quantities
Liquid wastes or any waste containing free liquids
Special medical wastes
Radioactive materials
Septage or sewage scavenger waste
Automobiles or auto parts
Animal carcasses
Incineration ash material
Chemical or Petroleum spill cleanup material
Industrial waste
Putrescible waste
To utilize a county drop-off center you must first obtain a solid waste
disposal coupon book at one of the following locations:
