ROCK HALL MIDDLE SCHOOL What did RHMS SASS Club do during the 2004-05 school year? RHMS SASS students worked as a group to promote a schoolwide anti-tobacco Door Decorating Contest which was judged by County Commissioners and local Law Enforcement during the week of the Great American Smokeout (third Thursday in November). The first, second and third place classes received prizes. The SASS students made flower and bee decorations to decorate a Christmas tree with an anti tobacco theme, "You and Me Can BEE Smoke Free," which won First Place in the Festival of Trees this year. The students also distributed SASS light up pens to each student at RHMS to remind youth not to use tobacco products. The students also made anti tobacco posters to display on a school bulletin board to celebrate "Kick Butts Day" which is held in April of each year. The students chose to imprint color changing "mood pencils" with "Proud to be tobacco free." They also chose red rubber bracelets with "1200" imprinted on each, to help all students to remember that 1200 Americans die each day of tobacco related diseases. Every RHMS student received a bracelet and "mood pencil" in April to celebrate "Kick Butts Day."
