Kent County's Nationally Accredited Law Enforcement Agency enforces Maryland laws within the County. They are also responsible for serving legal papers at the direction of the District and Circuit Courts, providing security for the Circuit Court, and enforcing the Court's orders.
Services include:
Patrol Division: Responds to calls for service, deters criminal activity, and works to provide a safe and orderly environment. The division includes two K-9 units.
Criminal Investigations Division: Investigators handle serious felonies and provide crime scene processing, conduct interviews and interrogations, and other technical matters.
Narcotics Taskforce: Investigators suppress distribution, use and abuse of controlled dangerous substances in Kent County.
School Resource Deputy: Works to assure a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, and administrators at the Kent County High School and Kent County Middle School.
Services Division: Provides security for the Kent County Courthouse and the Circuit Court
Victim Services: Provides support to victims of crimes and witnesses to crimes through counseling and referrals to available victim support programs.
Chaplains: Provides counseling to agency members and their families as requested, as well as for death notifications and accident and crime scenes to support victims and emergency service providers.
