The Samaritan Group operates the Emergency Winter Shelter from January through March. During the remaining nine months of the year, they provide emergency overnight shelter for those in need at a local motel.

All guests are referred by the Kent County Department of Social Services and must remain drug and alcohol-free during their stay in the shelter.

In partnership with the Kent County Department of Social Services, the Salvation Army, and the Good Neighbor Fund, they offer outreach services that provide: Assistance with utility bills, coordination with landlords, and one-time payment to help prevent evictions. 

If anyone needs to stay at the shelter they should contact Kent County Department of Social Services located at 350 High St, Chestertown, MD 21620, or by phone at  (410) 810-7600. 

The Shelter opens Monday, January 2nd, and is open through the last day in March. It operates from 5:30 pm until 8 am every night.
